Winter Hiking Around Minnetonka - Counselor Realty

When the snow flies, the outdoor fun is just beginning in Minnesota. The Twin Cities area becomes a winter wonderland this time of year, with ample opportunities to get out and explore.

So strap on your snowshoes and dust off your trekking poles. It's time to explore these great winter hikes in Minnetonka and the Twin Cities area!

  1. Lone Lake Park - 5624 Shady Oak Rd., Minnetonka, MN 55343
A quiet park in the southwest corner of Minnetonka, Lone Lake Park offers 146 acres of woods and open spaces, with a 1.2-mile trail that provides beautiful views of the lake. The trail is always left un-plowed in winter to facilitate snowshoeing, and a separate 5-mile multi-use mountain bike trail is also open to winter hiking and fat-tire biking. Located a short drive from many Minnetonka homes for sale, Lone Lake Park's trails also connect to additional hiking routes in nearby parks, including Shady Oak Beach and Three Rivers Park.

Fishing in the Twin Cities
Saint Paul homes for sale stand alongside Minneapolis homes for sale as your gateway to the beautiful Twin Cities. You've heard about the world-class amenities, but has anyone told you about the fishing?

Minnesota is called the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" for a good reason!

Let's look at some of our favorite lakes for fishing in around the Twin Cities.

  1. Mississippi Lock and Dam No. 1 - 5000 West River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN
The historic Mississippi Lock and Dam No. 1 is open seasonally for commercial barges and pleasure craft. While the land is prized for diverse birdlife, the water is just as lively. During the warm season, there is a small island visitors love fishing from.

Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge

Homes in Bloomington are turning heads this year as our agents have been getting plenty of calls showing interest in this beautiful community.

Fall in Minnesota is a breathtaking experience that you won't want to miss.

Locals are particularly lucky to be just down the road from one of the best.  It's the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, and you'll enjoy every minute of it.

The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is Where You See Autumn in Action

Autumn foliage is one of the most beautiful things about the changing of the seasons, and it's even better if you can watch it happen in all its magnificent splendor – out in the beauty of nature.

With almost 14,000 total acres of floodplain forest, wetlands, and prairie featuring iconic tall grass, the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge offers self-guided tours around some of the most amazing natural wonders found in Minnesota.

The most common way to experience it, however, is by ambling around the dozens of hiking trails. They are among the most popular for both hikers and trail runners state-wide, attracting a bevy of visitors each year since the land opened to the public in 1976.
