Uncover the Highlights: Why Residents Love the Twin Cities | Counselor Realty

Prince, who knew a thing or two about the Twin Cities, once said, "I like Hollywood. I just like Minneapolis a little bit better." Check out some of the attractions that have people always looking to settle down in Minneapolis homes for sale and St. Paul homes for sale.

  • First Avenue - 701 First Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN 55403
Prince and Purple Rain put First Avenue on the national musical landscape, but the iconic venue has been a Twin Cities legend for more than 50 years. Located in a former Greyhound bus depot, First Avenue also houses the 7th St. Entry, a smaller, more intimate concert space. The building's exterior features stars displaying the names of Iggy Pop, INXS, Paul Simon, and many other performers who have appeared on the First Avenue stage.

  • Como Park Zoo & Conservatory - 1225 Estabrook Drive, St. Paul, MN 55103
In 1897, St. Paul's "zoo" was a fenced-in pasture that was home to three deer. Today, Como Park Zoo & Conservatory welcomes nearly two million visitors each year to view their extensive collection of animals, stunning gardens, and intriguing art installations. Neighboring Como Town is a lively amusement park with thrilling rides, a splash pad, and special themed attractions. Visit the website for the schedule. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

  • Walker Art Center - 725 Vineland Place, Minneapolis, MN 55403
With a design studio, outdoor sculpture garden, and performing arts stage, Walker Art Center demonstrates that it's definitely "More than a Museum." The galleries feature visiting exhibitions along with long-term installations. Various workshops and activities promote art as a way for families to share quality time and express their creativity. Hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, except Thursday, when closing time is 9 p.m. The Sculpture Garden is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. - midnight. Admission is $9-$18.

  • Grand Avenue - St. Paul, MN 55105
By day, Grand Avenue is a power shopper's nirvana. Start with a cup of joe and a muffin at a cozy coffee shop before heading out to explore the charming boutiques and specialty shops. At night, it's time to party at the many bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Kick off the summer season with Grand Old Day, a beloved St. Paul tradition that's the largest free celebration in the Midwest.

  • St. Anthony Falls - 1 Portland Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55401
In addition to its incredible natural beauty, St. Anthony Falls holds historic significance. The only major waterfall on the Mississippi River served as a power source for the lumber and flour mills that generated the area's economic development. Take Fido for a walk along the Heritage Trail that includes views of the Stone Arch Bridge, another local landmark.

  • Landmark Plaza - 379 St. Peter St., St. Paul, MN 55102
When you want to connect with nature, you don't even have to leave the city. Just pop over to Landmark Plaza, a half-acre pocket of greenery that connects downtown St. Paul to Rice Park and the Mississippi River. Delightful bronze statues of Peanuts characters serve as a tribute to native son Charles M. Schulz. Hours are sunrise - 11 p.m. daily.

  • Target Field - 1 Twins Way, Minneapolis, MN 55403
As one of the newer MLB stadiums, Target Field offers a first-class experience for baseball games, business and private functions, and entertainment events. Target Field is the home of the Minnesota Twins, and it's also hosted the NHL Winter Classic as well as concerts by Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, Kenny Chesney, and other nationally known performers.
