There's no better way to spend a lazy summer weekend than browsing a farmers' market for great fruits and vegetables. If you've just moved to the area, though, you may not know where the best ones are near you or when they're open. Fortunately, there are plenty of farmers markets around the Twin Cities. Here are a few of our favorites near Minneapolis homes for sale and St. Paul homes for sale.
- Fulton Farmers' Market - 4901 Chowen Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55410
From May through October, Fulton Farmers' Market is a great community spot. Locals love to gather there on Saturday mornings to hang out and catch up while shopping for heirloom vegetables, seasonal fruits, homemade baked goods, and more. There are also special events throughout the season, such as their bi-monthly yoga class. If you'd like to get to know the area and its people, the Fulton Farmers' Market is a great place to do it.
- Linden Hills Farmers Market - 2813 W. 43rd St., Minneapolis, MN 55410
Since 2012, the Linden Hills Farmers Market has brought the community far more than just food. They also showcase local art, local music, and more. In addition to some of the best local produce in the area, such as apples, tomatoes, herbs, and kale, they also have craft booths, as well as food trucks featuring dishes made from produce freshly purchased at the market. Come by Sundays, rain or shine, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October 29, to see for yourself.
- St. Luke's Farmers' Market - 1807 Field Ave., St. Paul, MN 55116
Held Saturday mornings in the parking lot of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Highland Park, St. Luke's Farmers' Market features a variety of freshly-picked fruits and vegetables, all grown locally around the St. Paul area. Vendors also sell a variety of other offerings, such as hand-crafted soaps, homemade granola bars, and grass-fed Piedmont beef.
- Northeast Market After Dark - 1315 Tyler St. NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413
Not a morning person? Head to Northeast Market After Dark at Bauhaus Brew Labs every fourth Tuesday of the month, from 6 to 9 p.m. through October. In addition to a variety of vendors with great, farm-grown produce, they also have beer, a DJ, and more.
- Signal Hills Farmers Market - 1225 S. Robert St., West St. Paul, MN 55118
Whether you want fresh berries, flowers, or honey, the Signal Hills Farmers Market has all the locally-grown produce you want. Held Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon in Signal Hills Shopping Center parking lot, vendors sell a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and other artisan foods all summer long.
