Celebrate World Book Day - Twin Cities - Counselor Realty

Whether you're an avid bookworm or a casual reader, it's still fun to celebrate World Book Day by buying, borrowing, or donating a book (or 10!). While you're out exploring Minneapolis homes for sale, consider stopping by a couple of these bookstores, libraries, and donation centers.

  • Paperback Exchange: 2227 W. 50th St., Minneapolis, MN 55419
A locally-owned independent bookstore, Paperback Exchange has been a favorite among Minneapolis residents since 1975. They have over 150,000 books in stock and get new shipments every day.

From new-releases to hard-to-find, out-of-print editions, you'll find everything you could dream of here. They also carry journals and notebooks, greeting cards, and more, making this the perfect one-stop-shop for all your gift-giving needs.
  • Moon Palace Books: 3032 Minnehaha Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55406
Another independent neighborhood bookstore, Moon Palace Books carries a wide selection of new and used books and also offers consignments.

To keep everyone safe during the pandemic, they're currently offering a window pick-up system. You can place your order online and pick it up drive-thru style any time within two weeks of receiving your notification. They're also happy to ship books to you.
  • Minneapolis Central Library: 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55401
Located in downtown Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Central Library is the largest library in the Hennepin County Library public library system. Founded back in 1885, it was the first library in the city. Today, it's in a much larger, remodeled building.

There's always something to do at this library. In addition to having the largest collection of books in the city, there's also a piano room, teen tech center, meeting rooms, and more!
  • South St. Paul Public Library: 106 3rd Ave. N., South St Paul, MN 55075
If you've been looking at St. Paul homes for sale, you'll want to get to know the South St. Paul Public Library. It's one of the few independent libraries operating in the Twin Cities. They have a wide variety of print and digital materials available and everyone is welcome to visit.

On their website, you'll also find a large selection of resources for youth, including art lessons, printables, writing lessons, virtual field trips, and more. They're currently providing curbside pickup to minimize contact, so feel free to browse online and place your order.
  • Joseph's Coat: 1107 7th St. W., St Paul, MN 55102
Joseph's Coat is a free store that provides goods and services to the area's most needy. They accept a variety of donations. This includes books for adults, such as novels and mysteries, and children's books and games.

If you're thinking about decluttering, consider donating your gently used items to this very worthy cause.  They're currently accepting items by appointment only, so be sure to reach out before heading over.
  • Books for Africa: 717 Prior Ave. N., Ste. B, St. Paul, MN 55104
Books for Africa has a donation center in St. Paul. When you donate books here, you're supporting literacy and empowerment for African students.

The organization is currently looking for popular fiction and nonfiction books that are less than 16 years old. They'll also accept certain textbooks and other materials. You can find all the details on their website. Once you've gathered your books, you can either drop them off at the donation center or send them in the mail.

Are you ready to turn the page and start a new chapter in your life? If you're thinking about buying or selling a home in the Twin Cities, the pros at Counselor Realty are here to help! Call today to discuss your goals and get started.
