Twin Cities Sunday Drive - Counselor Realty

When you feel like you've been stuck indoors for a long time, sometimes you just need to take a drive and see the sights. Luckily, you'll find a lot of fun and unique attractions near our Minneapolis homes for sale. If you're in the mood to go for a drive, be sure to check out these Twin Cities landmarks.

  • Minneapolis Sculpture Garden - 725 Vineland Place, Minneapolis, MN 55403
A park and an art gallery rolled into one, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is one of the best places in the Twin Cities to walk around and have your mind blown in the great outdoors. The park spans 11 acres, with several miles of walking trails that lead to dozens of unique and eye-catching sculptures. The Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture is arguably the park's most iconic fixture, but there are enough to keep you busy for days, including works by some of the most renowned sculptures of the 20th century.

  • Minnesota State Capitol - 75 Rev Drive Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard., Saint Paul, MN 55155
No visit to the Twin Cities would be complete without a visit to the Minnesota State Capitol Building in Saint Paul. Home to the Minnesota Senate, House of Representatives the office of the Governor, the State Capitol Building was designed by Cass Gilbert and includes some spectacular architectural flourishes, including its gilded 'Progress of the State' statue. Whether you're able to tour the building itself or simply marvel at its architecture from the outside, it's a truly amazing sight.

  • Basilica of Saint Mary - 88 17th St. N, Minneapolis, MN 55403
Architecture buffs will find a lot of incredible churches to marvel at in the Twin Cities, but few can match the grandeur of the Basilica of Saint Mary. Built over the course of several years starting in 1907, this Roman Catholic minor basilica was the first basilica established in the United States. It's still a genuinely awe-inspiring sight, with its Baroque architecture and towering spires.

  • Minnehaha Falls - 4801 S. Minnehaha Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417
Plunging 53 feet into a rugged gorge along Minnehaha Creek before it meets the Mississippi River, Minnehaha Falls is one of America's most breathtaking urban waterfalls. The falls gained national fame in 1853 when the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote of it in the Song of Hiawatha. Today, the falls is protected within Minnehaha Falls Regional Park. The neighboring Minnehaha Regional Park is home to the Longfellow House Hospitality Center, which also serves as the starting point and information center for the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway.

  • Grand Rounds Scenic Byway - 4800 S. Minnehaha Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417
A vast network of roads and trails that connects some of Minneapolis' most beautiful parks and landmarks, the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway System is an amazing resource for anyone looking for a way to get outside and explore. The system consists of about 50 miles of parkways and over 100 miles of hiking and biking trails. Areas accessible along the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway include the Downtown Riverfront, Chain of Lakes, and Minnehaha Regional Park, among many others. The Grand Rounds is one of America's longest continuous systems of public urban parkways, and arguably the best way to explore Minneapolis.
