Celebrate National Read a Book Day at These Libraries Near You

Ready to get lost in the pages of a great book? September 6th is National Read a Book Day and our real estate agents can't wait to crack open the cover of an exciting tale. Reading opens our minds to all the possibilities of the world. Whether you love to spend a few hours alone absorbed in the story or if you prefer to read a few books with your children, we encourage you to stop by one of these fantastic public libraries around the Twin Cities and pick out something fun to read!

  1. Maple Grove Library — 8001 Main St. N., Maple Grove, MN 55369
    The Maple Grove Library, part of the Hennepin County Library System, is in a brand-new facility that is open seven days a week. Along with a huge selection of books, they also host storytime events for babies, children, and families. Head down and find your next favorite read!

  2. Glenwood Public Library — 108 1st Ave. SE., Glenwood, MN 56334
    The Viking Library System's Glenwood Public Library has been helping Glenwood residents discover new authors for over a century. Stop in and allow one of their friendly librarians suggest a few fun stories for you and your children to read together on National Read a Book Day.

  3. RCL White Bear Lake — 2150 2nd St., White Bear Lake, MN 55110
    The Ramsey County Library System's White Bear Lake location has been recently remodeled and expanded to contain over 65,000 materials including a collection of local history books. Their larger children's area has interactive play areas while teens will enjoy reading in a bright comfortable space that they can call their own.

  4. Saint Paul Public Library – Arlington Hills Community Center — 1200 Payne Ave., Saint Paul, MN 55130
    This Saint Paul Public Library branch is located within the Arlington Hills Community Center to provide residents with all of their community resources in one convenient location. Stop in and scope out what's new on their shelves and consider joining their lively book club!

  5. Rochester Public Library — 101 2nd St. SE., Rochester, MN 55904
    The Rochester Public Library is one of the best community spaces in the area. Their fantastic and diverse events calendar is only rivaled by their huge collection of books. After you've celebrated National Read a Book Day by checking out a few titles, stop in again to participate in their Human Library events where you learn about the life experiences of Southeastern Minnesotans.

  6. Anoka County Library: Mississippi Branch — 401 Mississippi St. NE., Fridley, MN 55432
    This Anoka County Library is the perfect place to visit on National Read a Book Day. Although its 11,000 square-foot facility has plenty of seating, September is a great time to sit outside in their courtyard and enjoy the weather. Swing by the Mississippi Library for a few hours and get lost in a novel.

  7. Detroit Lakes Public Library — 1000 Washington Ave., Detroit Lakes, MN 56501
    Part of the Lake Agassiz Regional Library System, the Detroit Lakes Public Library is supported by the generous community and county members that provide residents with a world full of reading. Email their librarians and they'll send you a list of customized recommendations that'll help you find the right book for you.
